Once again it was a pleasure coaching all of your sons
I hope to do it again for most of the B teamers next year (A teamers to be hopefully)
Thanks for the many kind words last night and thanks again to Coach Osko for his invaluable support and the support of all the Parents - if you have questions about any of these stats feel free to contact me. Have a wonderful Holiday/ Christmas season
season box score
I will send this out over 2 announcements
We TRY to deemphasize scoring in importance during the season
I have seen players score 15pts and play a lousy game
I have seen players score 2 points/ get 10 rebounds / 3 assists and be the MVP for that game
So scoring is not the end all / be all
That being said players , often, naturally want to know what they scored
I will also preface this by saying we do not have a box score for at least 2 B team games and one A team game - not exactly sure why - I include the games played/ points scored / season high and average- I have 7 players assigned to A team and 11 to B team - so a swing player will not have his points included for the game they played in with the A team.
Joel Games 14/ points 22/ high 4 pts/ average 1.6ppg
Jack Games 15/ Points 30/ high 8pts/ average 2.0ppg
Kolbe Games 13/ points 68/ high 14pts/ average 5.2ppg
Max Games 15/ points 258/ high 31pts/ average 17.2ppg
Kiern Games 15/ points 78/ high 16pts/ average 5.2ppg
Isaac games 15/ points 37/ high 6pts/ average 2.5ppg
Ryan games 14/ 67points/ high 10pts/ average 4.8ppg
I will post B team later

I encourage all the 8th graders to keep playing and keep trying to get better. I thank all the parents for your support.

Great job Coach Osko
So a bit of a disappointing end to our season yesterday
First the good news - the B team won 32-14 - alot of guys who do not usually play as much got a longer time on the court which was good to see.
The sad news the A team came out a little undermanned without one of our key players and a little flat. We fell behind 17-6 at one point and we played better after that but could never quite sustain a rally. We lost 32-27 but the guys fought to the end.
So we had our last practice yesterday- if you can call it that - but we did get to have a final scrimmage with the boys- oh well
The rosters for the final game are the following
Once again it has been a fun season
If you include all our games (including the tourney) The A team is 8-7 - if we win Monday we will have a winning season - so lets shoot for that! Coach JD
PS I am not sure about the B team record but I will determine that when I get the other scorekeeper book and send out that info

Location details are listed a few postings below. Should be a fun last time together!!
Early release for week of 12.5.16
The last game of the season is Monday, December 5th. The B team boys will be dismissed at 2:45pm.
Great game yesterday and great job on the year!
Looking forward to a great last game on Monday!
2 really good games yesterday
B team rallied from a 10 point deficit and then lost 25-23 when a last second shot rimmed out at that buzzer for us
A team faced a really good team - that shot the lights out for most of the game. We played about as good an offensive first quarter as we have all year and we were still down 16-14 at the end of it. We played so well we forced Manitou out of the press they wanted to run. We fell behind by as much as 48-26 toward the end of the 3rd qtr - but then rallied (outscored them 17-4) to close at 52-43 for the final count. Manitou Springs is a team that is slated to be in that final 4 for the playoffs- and they showed why. I was very proud of how the guys played smart and hard the whole way thru!
We will have a fun practice today- mostly scrimmage
Then our last game is Monday and we have a party on Wednesday
I will post the last rosters tomorrow after I confer with Coach Osko
Thanks for a fun year - Coach DeCelles
computer at work was down last 48 hrs. In case u did not we won our last A game 42-40 in overtime. The B team lost 45-15. Our record in the conference is 6-4! We are positioned in 6th place out of 13 teams unfortunately that does not qualify us for the 4 playoff positions. Even if we win the next 2 games we can finish no higher than 5th. Even so it sounds like the team is in much better position than a year ago. I am very proud of the boys. They have worked very and it has been a gratifying season . Go Highlanders coach DeCelles

thanks John D
Good games yesterday
B team was able to hold onto a lead for a time against a good team before losing 43-25.
Coach Osko can comment more if he desires
A team won an exciting game. We were down 22-15 early in the 3rd qtr- then rallied to take the lead. We were up 45-39 with about a minute left - we gave up 2 quick 3 point shots - much to their coach's chagrin to tie at 45-45. But we hit 3 free throws down the stretch and made up for the earlier mental lapse by playing really effective/ smart defense on 2 straight possessions to close out a great win on a hostile floor. I was really proud of the guys - I think it was our best win of the year - because we beat a pretty good team.
We are off til the 28th- I know the weather is not great - but I did encourage the boys to keep practicing on their own since we there will be no practices until we play Monument the 28th. Enjoy the holidays!
Gatorade water bottles (at Peyton game)
If you took a green Gatorade water bottle home, please bring them to school tomorrow and GIVE TO NOLAN.
They belong to his family, who have been gracious to provide Gatorade for the players each game. In the excitement of the victory, I failed to make an announcement in the locker room that I was collecting them on their behalf. .
great games yesterday against CSCA
B team won a runaway 45-6 - the usual starters either sat a lot or did not play which shows how far the boys have come as a team
The A team got off to poor start - the guys were just a little too "amped up" and we fell behind 12-4. But we were only down 25-24 at the half. We finally pulled ahead 37-35 on a 3 at the key by Max and went on to win 56-48. I was really proud of how the guys played as a team in the second half even with losing one of our starters early to foul trouble. The refs called the game extremely tight - but the guys eventually adjusted. All in all a fantastic win. We have another tough one today at Peyton. Thanks for your support - Coach JD
B team game v. CSCA
This game was a unique opportunity to let our 6th graders play the entire game (except for Stephen, who was poked in the eye). We've played on the other end of this kind of game, and I think our students handled themselves with class. Now we have the opportunity to build on that effort with (most likely) a tougher challenger tomorrow at Peyton. Hats off to Coach D and the A team. They played well tonight!
Peyton game (Thursday 11/17)
Early dismissal for B team is 2:25 pm.
brief roster update
Roster posted for CSCA will be the same for the Peyton game Thursday
Roster for the games after Thanksgiving will likely change a little- but I will post those later next week
Hope to see all of you at the game
I know we are trying to pack the stands and the players will love that- just encourage everybody to be respectful to CSCA- even though it is technically a home game- it is obviously their facility- we do not want to create any rifts with them going forward! Go Highlanders - Coach JD
B team game v. RMCA
To piggy back on what Coach D said, the RMCA B team is undefeated. I told the boys in the locker room after the game how proud I was of their effort. #31 is a very talented player, and was just recently moved from A to B team. After making a 3 point shot, our players were called upon to pressure him, and they responded. We were also undersized in the paint; Tomas and Xavier rebounded with a lot of heart. In the fourth quarter, we took a timeout every 90 seconds, with short term goals to cut the lead. They fought their way back into the game, only giving up 2 points on defense. With a bit more time, I think we could have closed the gap. The boys showed a lot of heart and character!
b team game
I only saw about the last 5mins of the B team game
looks like we were right there to win it but lost 32-27 - but Coach Osko can add more if he desires
correction and updated rosters
So I apologize- I was wrong about the schedule for this week- I was looking off an old schedule
So we have practice today 5:30-6:30 and games both Wednesday AND Thursday- mea culpa
The game yesterday was actually more competitive than the score would indicate- RMCA is a good team - they made it to the finals of the Vanguard tourney- but we actually were able to hang with them. Unfortunately we are not a team that finishes at the rim very well and we are not terribly deep given our inability to swing players anymore. The final score was 50-23 but we must have missed a dozen lay ups- the good news we are getting the ball to the weak side more and I want to single out Kolbe and Max who repeatedly got the ball to the open man!- but we just did not capitalize enough. The off season - much like in soccer - will depend on guys working on their shooting and ball handling- these are things we can only work on for a limited amount of time in practice.
I am shaking up the rosters again for CSCA game
Lets finish the season strong! Coach DeCelles
We have games on Monday and Wednesday this week
We have practices on Tuesday and Thursday- b/c of the onset of the varsity bball seasons please note that the practices for the middle school teams are SHORT- 5:30-6:30PM
We will likely do 1-2 quick drills and then scrimmage
At this point the offense is in / defense 2/3 zone, 3/2 zone, man to man/ press / press breaker are all in
The boys just have to continue to refine their skills within those formats
I know we still have not seen our best complete effort in a game yet- we will continue to move toward that
Mon 11/14 at RMCA
From the RMCA athletic director:
"It is easiest to come into the school off of Barnes, then head south on Antelope Ridge Dr. You will be turning right into the school and can be in the correct carpool lane. Park in staff parking, and come in the staff entrance near the gym. There will be one door unlocked at staff entrance and it will be labeled Basketball."
After today it appears we only have 4 more practices!
We have worked the boys hard this week- lot of drills and scrimmaging
When we scrimmage the boys tend to play very well the first 20mins or so- the effort is always there- however as the scrimmage progresses we get sloppy in running the offense so we will continue to emphasize that. Coach Osko and I hopped in the scrimmages during practice and I was impressed with their defensive intensity - we just need to channel that into 28mins on the game floor!
rosters have changed
In the interest of getting some of the players more playing time and conversely giving some of the boys a chance to run with the A team- the rosters are being tinkered with - but will continue to change from game to game- for our next game the 14th - rosters are as follows:
Early release for week of 11.14.16
MS Bbball @ 2:45pm
MS Bbball @ 2:45pm
MS Bbball @ 2:25pm
The B game yesterday was competitive til the 4th qtr - our lack of size makes it tough. We had cut the margin to 11 at one point but then lost 50-25. The A game yesterday was a rough one. The boys ran into a team that simply had them outclassed in terms of preparation. If we had played our best game I think it would have been hard to keep the score down. We are not a team that handles the ball very well yet - and the game has not slowed down for them yet either. But we will keep working toward that. We will talk some more at practice today about effort and execution. When our offense is not clicking the boys tend to get lax on the defensive end and that is something that can not happen. Defense and rebounding are things that come down to effort more than talent - so it is the one thing we can control more easily - we will stress that at practice today.
I am considering reshuffling the A and B team rosters/ and starting line ups- something I will continue to do possibly game to game - Coach Osko and I will discuss this through out the week. The next 3 practices will afford us some time to reevaluate this. Having only 9 players for the rosters is tough on the B team especially so we will continue to look at that. I also want to make sure that back line A team players are getting some competitive reps with the B team. Thanks Coach John D
Yes I know taut is spelled TAUT instead of Taught as I did in the announcement
just realized my error
So we participated in the Vanguard tourney this past weekend- the results were a little bit disappointing but all in all it was a good experience for the boys.
We lost the first game 48-21- we were behind 25-13 at the half but could never string enough baskets or stops together to really threaten Vanguard. It was a tough draw- first game 8AM playing against a team that is good on their home court.
We went to the losers bracket and won the first game 45-18 against Monument academy- it was blow out almost from the get-go and afforded us the opportunity to clear the bench in the 4th quarter which gave all the players (12) an opportunity to play meaningful mins.
We then lost the 3rd place game against James Irwin- it was a taught game thru most of the 3rd quarter- we had the lead 27-25 at one point but we just couldn't hold it- the guys looked pretty winded at that point and we just could not finish it - losing 46-35.
We have a tough one today- maybe the best A team we will play all year - CSCS. So the guys will have their work cut out for them. We then have 3 practices that are from 6:30-8PM this week - we will work on taking charges/ playing man to man / conditioning and shooting/ shooting/ shooting- if we could make our lay ups we might have won all our games
THanks for your support
rosters going forward
So at the outset of the season it was the understanding of our AD and we the coaches that having players swing up from the B team to the A team for games was within the rules. Well we have NOW gotten flack from 2 opposing programs - threatening to forfeit out our B team wins if we do this any longer. In essence I think they were fine with this practice as long as we were not competitive (but I digress). Based on the information we are getting now - we have decided before each game to have a designated roster for A and B teams and NO "swing" players- I do not like this - but it is the hand we are dealt. I will likely continue to move some players up or down on a game by game or week by week basis from A to B and vice versa.
One important point I want to make on this - just b/c your son/ player is not designated to play on the A team is not necessarily a judgement on that player's skill- it also has to do with the need we may have for a guard or forward or whatever. It also allows for better player development for some players to stay with the B team and play 2 quarters instead of coming on the A roster and potentially play only 3mins of the game. I know there is "prestige" to playing with the A team - and I really get that- but in fact there may be more fun and experience to be had playing for the B team.
That said the rosters for CSCS game on Monday are:
One other note on this b/c we now only have the flexibility of 9 man rosters - we REALLY need to know if your child is going to miss a game as soon as possible- I have had to coach a team that often had only 6 players dress - it was fun for the players but a nightmare for the coach - praying nobody fouled out. Thanks again for your support - Coach John D
By the way I should mention we did win yesterday 54-21
The boys played well and more importantly conducted themselves with class against a team that was vastly overmatched- we received compliments from the refs and the opposing coaches on our behavior in what could have been an awkward situation given the disparity in talent on the court. We also were able to play most of the second line players the majority of the mins - which was good for their experience.
Coach Osko and I are willing to drive the 12 players designated for the tourney tomorrow
We will meet at the school (Maclaren) at 7AM and intend to leave by 7:15AM if you are later than 7:15 there is a good chance we will NOT be there and you will have to come the rest of the way yourself.- or you have decided to drive to the tourney on your own.
The first game is at 8AM for our team so it is important for us to get there as early as possible to warm up and get acquainted with the court. There will be a lot of down time tomorrow - though there is the possibility of scrimmages against other teams. Boys may want to bring a snack or a few bucks to buy a snack or a gatorade etc... We will see how things go - but at some point I may take the guys out for a quick lunch somewhere.
We can then bring the boys back to Maclaren when the tourney is over- and we will try to make sure the kids update the parents as to when we think we will be back probably between 3:30 and 6PM depending on the bracket we are in and how we play.
See you all bright and early
Early release for week of 11.7.16
Monday the boys will be dismissed at 3pm. I plan on walking the boys over to CSCS so there really is not a need for carpool.
Victory in both games yesterday!
B team won 32-17 game had a sloppy pace of play - but the guys played tough defense the whole game and that got us over the hump
A team won 48-42- we were behind 9-2 to start the game - rallied to take the lead 21-14 at the half, then after a back and forth second half - we pulled away late. Everybody contributed to the win which was good to see. We beat a good team
One A game today - then tourney Saturday
couple quick points
Coach Osko and I decided to keep 18 players (which frankly is two too many at times) as a result figuring out playing time for all the kids can be tricky. So far I have gotten NO negative feedback from the players or parents on this which I GREATLY appreciate! If your son is disappointed in his playing time- please remind him that he did make the cut- in other words there are 12 players who did not make it all. Thus it is something of a privilege to make the team. It is always tough as a coach to analyze players- there have been players I have coached over the years that I realized later probably should have played more and other kids who maybe played too much- you just try to make your best judgement. And trust me as a parent I have felt it from the other end when I thought one of my children was not playing enough. Some of the kids have asked how they can get better - once again I would stress to all the kids- dribbling/ dribbling/ dribbling- we have a dearth of true point guards (most teams do) - practice left hand/ cross over/ behind the back - ALL with their head up- and continue to work on being a competent passer. Big men need to work on foot work and catching the ball in traffic. A good drill for big man is to have someone feed them the ball while the kid is wearing gloves- this will help him achieve "soft hands" in the post.
Now the reason I bring this up is we are bringing 12 players to the tourney - some of those players may not play much - only spot duty at times- if we are blowing a team out or vice versa they will get in more. If one of the kids who does not expect to play much does not want to be at tourney all day I totally understand - but please let me know and we can move one of the other kids up if they want play.
We have been told there is a second gym where we could hold impromptu scrimmages during our down times- with other teams - but not exactly sure how that will look
Thanks for all your support
tourney info etc..

update for this week
Some tough games yesterday
-B team had a very exciting see saw battle with many twists and turns
We were up 8-1/ later down 33-28 / then tied it to send to overtime 34-34 and then lost at the buzzer 38-36- kids played well though and I was proud of them
-In the A team game we were ahead early 7-0 and down at the half 15-14
we had a rough 3rd qtr and fell behind by over 20pts- but came back to make it respectable 43-30
Vanguard has a good team (best we have played this year) we do get another shot at them this year.
I was proud of all of the kids though
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - THE GAME ON THURSDAY IS ONLY FOR THE A TEAM AND SWING PLAYERS - ALREADY DESIGNATED - NO "PURE B TEAM" PLAYERS SHOULD COME UNLESS THEY JUST WANT TO WATCH- I AM WAITING FOR A CLARIFICATION ON THE START TIME FOR THIS SINCE A TEAM GAMES USUALLY START AT 5PM BUT SINCE THERE IS ONLY ONE GAME I AM NOT SURE?
I will send out an announcement with the tournament roster for this Saturday - I am only dressing 12 players - so if your son can NOT make it please let me know- my understanding is that Nolan will not be there- correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks again- Coach DeCelles
early release -- B team
10/31 & 11/2 games are 2:45 pm
11/3 game is 3:15 pm (due to 4:30 pm start)
A BIG THANK YOU to Laura Shorey and Maria Martinez for helping redirect the carpools from Atlas Prep to Hilltop Baptist church. And thank you to all of the families for your patience and flexibility. I'm not aware of any more circumstances like this in the schedule. Last year, this apparently was the same case.
With all of the back and forth roster adjustments this past week, here's a quick breakdown for this week:
B GAME ROSTER
Also, James Irwin game was not on Fusion calendar to the right. It is there now, scheduled on Wednesday.
if you are unavailable on Saturday please notify me
the tourney will go most of the day
Update on roster
great games friday
B team won 42-21
A team came back from 15-6 deficit to win 40-37
we have 3 games this week then tourney Saturday
Xavier A will be asked to be swing player this week
John D will only dress with B team this week
I am going to probably go with 12 man roster for the tourney
I would like to dress all the players but it will not be practical
Josh S will still be a swing player this week
Rosters and A team update
few quick comments
The rosters as mentioned are unchanged except for the following
Xavier A was asked to be a swing player for the game today- however I have now learned he is unavailable so we will manage without him
Joel S has agreed to be a swing player (dress for both games) this will help bolster the B team roster and allow more playing time for him
For security purposes I have been asked to refrain from using full last times on fusion in case you are wondering
Coach Osko already covered the B team game
The A team game was great
The team has really started to embrace the offense / inbound plays and is playing a cohesive zone
I was extremely please with how they played. We were ahead 18-12 at the half then really ran away with the game in the second half - at one point we were ahead 42-19 before we emptied the bench. We are likely going to experiment with adding a little more man to man with our defense to keep the other team guessing- we worked on man to man alot in practice yesterday. The zone press is still a work in progress - it is difficult for a varsity team to do this correctly - so it is a tall task for middle schoolers but we will still give that "look" to teams on a more sparing basis.
thanks for your support Coach DeCelles
Roster for Atlas Prep
We are following the same A and B rosters for this game, with the exception of Xavier Ambuul. With Kolbe's absence, Xavier is being asked to play for both teams as a swing player.
There is no early dismissal for this game. However, players need to change quickly because it's a 20-25 minute drive down Academy to Fountain Blvd.
GAME RECAP: Banning Lewis Ranch Acad.
The B team lost 45-20
The A team won 48-30
B GAME RECAP:
The B team played a strong first half, down 18-15 at the half. However, we ran out of gas down the stretch. Our 3:2 zone was exploited by a very good outside shooter. #25 hit (4) 3's in the 3rd quarter. I take responsibility for not making the appropriate adjustment to limit his looks. We did try to extend the zone out to the perimeter, but did not isolate a defender on him. On a positive note, we limited their big man #55 to only 6 points in the paint. The post players did a good job putting a body on him, and denying the entry pass.
On the offensive end, the refs let them play, and we took a beating going to the basket. When the foul calls were made, we shot 6 of 13 from the line, which could be better but isn't bad at this level (the other team shot 2 of 7). I'm hoping this will improve, and it will take a personal commitment from each player to work on their free throw shooting at school recess or home. The pass and cut offense looked good in the first half, but wasn't as crisp in the second half as players fatigued. Becoming accustomed to the physical nature of the game requires experience. Our players nonetheless maintained their composure and good sportsmanship. I am proud of the way they finished the game out with their best effort.
B team game v. Ellicott
At the conclusion of the B game vs Ellicott, we discussed the following takeaways:
games yesterday and tomorrow
Good effort last night
In case you did not know
The B team won 33-13
The A team lost 39-30
The A team was behind at the half 15-10 - we came back to briefly take the lead 22-20 in the 3rd qtr- then had it at 33-30 before we ran out of gas at the end. We were done in by foul trouble and some issues with turnovers but all in all for a first effort it was a positive step. We are going to work some more at practice today - on hitting inside shots under duress and passing instead of dribbling out of our press breaker. The good news is I think we can play A LOT better - the bad news IS the competition will likely be stiffer down the road with our schedule.
Coach Osko can comment more on the B team game- I watched part of the second qtr and all of the 3rd quarter - I was pleased with our ability to identify the open man- the guys were unselfish with the ball - trying to stress that a good pass can be as valuable as a made shot.
THE ROSTERS PUT OUT BEFORE GAME 1 SHOULD BE THE SAME FOR GAME 2
(IN REGARDS TO A TEAM/ B TEAM/ SWING PLAYERS)
If you are unable to make a game and know in advance it would be great if you can text me at 574-339-1991. That way I can try and pull up other players - we were one short for the A team game yesterday (like to have a roster of 10 - just b/c of potential foul trouble) we had one player foul out and a second had 4 at games end yesterday.
THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR SUPPORT
Parents and Fans,
Some of the schools in our league charge a $2 adult admission fee and $1 student fee. I am uncertain as to all of the schools whether they charge or not but below I have included what I know for sure. If we are playing @ a school that charges please expect to pay:
STEPHEN AMBUUL WILL BE ON THE B TEAM ROSTER
SORRY ABOUT THAT - WAS OFF MY ORIGINAL LIST FOR SOME REASON
I KNEW I WAS LEAVING SOMEBODY OUT!
COACHING IN GAMES
COACH OSKO IS THE HEAD COACH FOR B TEAM GAMES ( I AM UNABLE TO BE THERE FOR 4PM START TIMES)
COACH DECELLES WILL COACH HOPEFULLY ALL A TEAM GAMES
BUT WE OBVIOUSLY PRACTICE AS A TEAM
UNIFORMS WILL BE HANDED OUT THIS EVENING
I HAVE ALREADY HEARD SOME OF YOU MAY NOT BE THERE FOR PRACTICE
IF YOU ARE NOT THERE FOR PRACTICE I WILL GIVE THE REMAINDER OF THE UNIFORMS TO COACH OSKO AND HE CAN HAND THIS OUT PRIOR TO TIP OFF ON MONDAY
COUPLE QUICK COMMENTS
THE BOYS HAVE BEEN GREAT - THEY HAVE BEEN VERY COOPERATIVE IN PRACTICE
WE ARE THROWING A LOT AT THEM IN A SHORT SPAN OF TIME IN TERMS OF LEARNING A PRESS/ PRESS BREAK/ NEW OFFENSE/ ZONE DEFENSE/ MAN TO MAN DEFENSE/ INBOUNDS PLAYS. I EXPECT THE FIRST WEEK OF GAMES WILL BE QUITE RAGGED AT TIMES - WITH ONLY 8 PRACTICES IT IS DIFFICULT TO GET ALL THIS IN AND NOT UTTERLY OVERWHELM THEM. MY GOAL IS TO SEE THEM IMPROVE AT EVERY PRACTICE AND EVERY GAME - IF WE DO THAT - IT IS THE BEST WE CAN ASK.
I ENCOURAGE THE BOYS TO WORK ON FREE THROW SHOOTING AND BALL HANDLING EVEN JUST 15MINS A DAY IN THE DRIVEWAY IF THEY WANT TO IMPROVE - FREE THROW SHOOTING IS A NECESSITY BUT WITH ONLY 2 RIMS AND UP TO 18 BOYS IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SPEND MUCH PRACTICE TIME ON THIS. IT WOULD TAKE UP TO 20-25MINS FOR EACH BOY TO GET IN 10 FREE THROWS EACH AND WE CAN NOT USE THAT MUCH TIME. YOU REALLY NEED AT LEAST 4 RIMS TO BREAK UP AS A TEAM FOR THIS. BALL HANDLING WILL BE A NECESSITY IN OUR OFFENSE SO ONCE AGAIN NEEDS TO BE WORKED ON - ON THEIR OWN!
THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT
B TEAM AND SWING PLAYERS
THE B TEAM ROSTER IS AS FOLLOWS
NOLAN MARTINEZ ***
IF I HAVE FORGOTTEN SOMEBODY FROM THIS LIST - PLEASE FORGIVE ME AND DO NOT TAKE PERSONALLY (LOT OF PLAYERS TO JUGGLE)
IF YOU DO NOT APPEAR ON THE A TEAM LIST YOU WILL BE PLAYING IN THE B TEAM GAME
THE 3 PLAYERS WITH ASTERISKS - BROPHY/ DECELLES AND
MARTINEZ - WILL DRESS FOR BOTH GAMES
LIKE I SAID THESE ROSTERS ARE NOT SET IN STONE - BUT MAY VARY FROM GAME TO GAME SOME
A TEAM ROSTER
THE A TEAM ROSTER IS AS FOLLOWS FOR OUR FIRST GAME
THESE 7 PLAYERS ARE WELCOME TO COME TO THE B TEAM GAME - BUT UNLESS WE HAVE MULTIPLE NO SHOWS THEY WILL NOT PLAY IN THAT GAME
Just to clarify again - for parents who may not have been at the parents mtg orfor parents who may have been confused
I plan on issuing before each game or at least each week the following:
- An A team roster (probably 6-8 players) who will be designated to only play in the A team game
-A B team roster which is all the players designated to play in the B team game (10-12players)
- finally there will be 2-4 players who will be designated as swing players- which means they are invited to both games
The A team roster will likely not change much through out the season barring injury or vacation
The swing player roster may vary quite a bit as players improve and also to give some players at least "a taste" of playing with more rigorous competition.
Of course all the players can come and stay / watch both games whether they are to play or not- in other words if an A team roster player shows up early for the B team game - thats great - he just will more than likely not play in that game unless we have a raft of no shows
Hope this is as clear as I can make it - thanks for your support

Coach DeCelles and I would like to meet with you for a short parents meeting following Tuesday's practice (10/18/16). We will meet from 7:05 - 7:20 pm at the CSCA gym's upper level. There have been some questions about A vs B games, and what is expected of each group at the games. We will discuss this topic with you in detail, along with expectations for early class release and transportation to games.
The practice schedule is listed on the calendar to the right. Also below, in the "Files" section, is a combined practice/ game schedule in PDF format. middle school boys basketball practice and game schedule
The middle school boys basketball practice and game schedule (for the entire season) is now posted on the FusionPage.
Just a reminder we are having practice for the 6th-8th grade basketball MS boys teams from 9:00-11:00 AM Saturday 10/15 /16
In general we will only practice on weekdays - but we made room for this practice because I would have been unavailable on Monday 10/10 - so we carved this practice out
Hope to see all the boys who can make it in the AM tomorrow
Thank you to all the athletes that tried out for basketball this season. All of you worked very hard over the past two days. It is difficult only being able to offer a select number of spots for the school team and I encourage all those who did not make to team to continue playing.
The downtown YMCA is looking for a team to fill the 6pm Friday night practice slot for their 5th/6th grade league. The team does need a coach and if there is a parent interested in coaching this team please fill out the volunteer paperwork with the downtown YMCA. When signing up with the YMCA, let the desk know you want the Friday 6pm slot so all players can be placed on the same team.
Please let me know if you have any questions,
